The launch of our training division XR Academy was pushed forward substantially this year when we partnered Niyo Enterprise on their Black Disruptor XR Bootcamp.

This 20-week XR Bootcamp was created for black women in Birmingham to take their immersive skills from zero to hero and help them break into or scale-up in the tech industry.

Our mission is to help redress the skills gap in the tech industry and break down the barriers to make immersive tech accessible for all. This is particularly focused on promoting gender diversity in the tech industry as just 19% of the tech workforce are women, and less than than 3% of that figure accounts for black women working in the industry.

Over the course of the Bootcamp, we worked with the students to gain a sound understanding of XR including Unity, lighting, sound, Blender, coding, programming & VR setup.

The dedication, skills and enthusiasm of the students was amazing, and we were blown away week after week by the work they produced.

Projects ranging from neuroscience applications to fashion & retail and arts & culture were unveiled at a special showcase evening organised by Niyo Enterprise and received a rousing response.

The Taran3D XR Academy successfully completed this programme with a 95% certification pass rate for students achieving certifications in immersive technologies and programming.
