Taran was recently invited to take part in a Trade Mission to Malta with WM Creative Scale-Up Programme and WM Creative Business Response and Resilience Programme.

This impressive mission was developed to establish and build relationships between UK & Maltese screen and game industries organisations and we were really honoured to be approached to take part.

The trip had a wonderfully curated itinerary that was split across four days, giving Taran fantastic insight into the many opportunities Malta can offer. His first stop was a visit to Malta Enterprise to meet representatives for a working lunch. This session gave him a really good understanding of Malta and its economy.

Taran was also able to enjoy a visit to BASE CAMP a new incubator space for interactive companies looking to grow their business in/from Malta. To say he was impressed with this initiative is an understatement!

During the mission, he had the chance to visit some of Malta’s leading screen led organisations including Malta Film Commission and Gaming Malta, both of which were real highlights of the visit.

Malta Film Commission provided a superb tour of their facilities as well as visiting some of their best film locations… Gladiator anyone?!

A meeting with Heritage Malta allowed Taran to enjoy some of the country’s beautiful heritage including seeing Game of Thrones locations. This really resonated with Taran’s love and passion for the work we do within arts & culture at Taran3D.

A visit to the new Innovation Centre in Gozo gave Taran the opportunity to meet businesses currently residing in Malta. One of the aims of the mission was to ensure the UK delegates understood the benefits of working in Malta. Deloitte Malta/PWC were on hand to explain the tax incentives available for screen businesses seeking to work in the country.

This mission was incredibly well planned and provided Taran3D with fantastic insight into a proposition that could be extremely appealing to us as a start-up business. Big thanks to WM Creative Scale-Up Programme and Fiona Latter and Dan Licari for organising this event and their support.

Below is a brief snapshot of some of the places Taran was lucky enough to visit on the mission.
