Fuelling Creative Vision Internationally

We were approached by Canadian creative agency Skyrocket to support them with the rebrand project of their client, independent fuel company Paz Fuels.

As part of the rebrand we collaborated with Skyrocket to provide 3D interactive support and translate the new brand across Paz Fuels extensive fleet of vehicles.

Working alongside Skyrocket, we forged strong relationships with the entire project team including the vehicle manufacturers and wrap company to ensure we delivered precise, accurate representations of the proposed rebrand across the whole fleet.

Our interactive visualizer worked seamlessly across screen and VR, allowing the user to view the rebranded range of vehicles from any angle, swapping out design and colour configurations at the touch of a button in real time.

Our interactive visualisation tool played a vital part in the smooth running of this project, enabling stakeholders from the UK, Canada and America to consult in real time and reach a consensus in record time.

Anglo-Sikh Virtual Museum

The Anglo Sikh Virtual museum project is a project initiated by Taran3D alongside our partners the Sikh Museum Initiative and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The Virtual Museum aims to be an immersive online repository of digitally scanned and modelled artefacts that can be explored in various immersive platforms including google cardboard.

The Anglo Sikh Virtual Museum project required us to create accurate representative 3D models of museum artefacts that could be easily experienced online through a website, within a VR headset or via a mobile phone using augmented reality.

The project has been critically acclaimed and featured on local and international newspapers and online publications. This includes the Leicester Mercury, Tribune India and the Times of India. We have also been interviewed as part of the BBC World Service Heart and Soul programme, talking about how people can engage with their cultural heritage through new technologies like Virtual Reality.

2G Stories

The 2G(Second Generation) Stories project, funded by the HLF aimed to archive interviews of those that were born in Britain after their parents emigrated from other countries. This is an extraordinary generation who have grown up pioneers. Developed in an unfamiliar British culture, one that their parents knew little about. One where they have had to blend their parent’s Indian culture with a British one and create a hybrid that was a more resilient individual.

The Interactive needed to give visitors at the launch or pop up exhibition events an insight into the intimate interview material by sharing snippets of audio recorded from the interviews with the participants. The storyshare team allowed me to go away and freely explore how the interactive could be achieved.

The Interactive needed to work on a touchscreen and be easy to navigate for anyone seeking to explore it, it needed to be eye catching, distinctive and quick. I noticed early on how the photographs taken throughout the project gave a real sense of being in the participant’s personal space and environment and thought it would be great if this could be used as the main graphical element of the interactive.

The photographs were arranged into random circular buttons on the homepage and I wrote a random algorithm script which would auto scale the buttons up and down to give it an organic alive feel and also catch the attention of visitors and prompt them to click the buttons.

On the participant pages, we decided to use one distinct photo of the participant with their bio information stamped onto it and large unmissable buttons for the user to play the audio and video excerpts. The participant information was being sent to me in various packages so i decided to create a database system that could easily take participant information and automatically generate the controls required for the audio and video content. This made the system easier to manage and easily scalable. Extra participants could be added near the launch date without having to do any extra coding.

When we were asked to produce an interactive that would appeal to younger visitors we decided to create an exhibit they could literally play around with. We created an augmented reality interactive, which would allow visitors to hold and manipulate virtual objects, such as swords and armor, on a projected screen.

Augmented reality works by integrating 3D objects into the user’s environment by tracking cardboard tags held by the user. A camera then shows a reflection of the user with the overlaid 3d objects, giving the user the illusion that they are holding and manipulating a virtual object.

The two interactives were very popular, not just with younger audiences but with older audiences as well. The project received positive feedback and the exhibition was featured in various newspapers and TV reports

Ichthyosaur Interactive Game

We were commissioned to create a 3D interactive experience at Thinktank, Birmingham Science Museum for the launch of their Ichthyosaur exhibition as part of the Marine Worlds Gallery.

Ichthyosaurs are extinct large marine predators that lived during the Mesozoic Era and it was our job to digitally bring them back to life for a whole new audience.

We were excited to be approached to work on this project as it was the first time that the UK’s largest example of an Ichthyosaur skeleton would be on display to the public – just 61 years after it was discovered in a farmer’s field in Warwickshire!

We created a 3D model of the Ichthyosaur from a conceptual drawing produced for the exhibition. This model was then rigged to a virtual skeleton and animated to swim through an underwater scene that we created in a real-time engine.

Working within the confines of our client’s hardware we reconfigured the interactive to work as an animated virtual model with clickable fact-finding hotspots and informative screen displays, giving the user an engaging and educational experience.
